METAIRIE, La. – After a stunningly tough week in Seattle, the New Orleans Saints returned to the practice field at almost full force on Wednesday. Unfortunately for them, one key piece remains out after what was expected to be only a brief absence.
Here is the information from Wednesday’s practice report ahead of the Saints’ Week 4 matchup with the Buffalo Bills.
New Orleans Saints
Did Not Participate
- OL Dillon Radunz (Toe)
- DE Chase Young (Calf)
Limited Participation
- T Taliese Fuaga (Knee/Back)
- WR Trey Palmer (Hamstring)
- WR Devaughn Vele (Hip)
Full Participation
- DE Cameron Jordan (Groin)
- T/G Trevor Penning (Toe)
The biggest concern on the Saints’ list continues to be Young. A calf injury now could threaten to sideline him for a fourth consecutive game to start the season. With no Injured Reserve appointment for the big-ticket pass rusher, it’s safe to assume that his absence could extend beyond the initially expected timeline.
Head coach Kellen Moore did say that Young is close to being back. But the weight of that will be heavily debated until Young is in fact back on the practice field and available on game days.
Buffalo Bills
Did Not Participate
- OL Spencer Brown (Calf)
- LB Matt Milano (Pectoral)
- DT Ed Oliver (Ankle)
Limited Participation
- DE A.J. Epenesa (Pectoral)
The biggest name for the Bills is Oliver from the Saints’ perspective. The “game-wrecker” as quarterback Spencer Rattler referred to him on Wednesday, is a very important piece to the Bills’ defense. Without him, Buffalo ranks No. 32 against the run. If he remains out, that may be the best bet for the Saints to surprise and compete in an otherwise outmatched situation.
