Charlotte, NC —With tipoff for the 2025-26 NCAA men’s basketball season just weeks away, RotoWire.com has released its ranking of SEC men’s basketball rosters by estimated average age, from the most seasoned to the youngest squads.
LSU is the third-oldest team in the SEC with an average age of 20.14 years. Only Texas A&M and Vanderbilt are more veteran. The Tigers opened practice for the 2025-26 season Wednesday.
Using publicly available data from SEC team websites to assess each player’s class year (freshman through graduate), RotoWire.com computed an estimated average age per roster. (Note: due to limitations in available birthdate information, these averages are approximate and may shift with roster changes).
About This Analysis
RotoWire’s ranking is based on class-year to age estimation and does not reflect exact player birthdates. The counts of players per roster range from 14 to 18. As final rosters settle and official player data becomes available, these figures may be refined. Still, the age trends offer an early lens into how SEC teams may approach this season: with wisdom, with youth, or somewhere in between.
