LSU sophomore defensive end Gabe Reliford will miss the remainder of the 2025 season with a torn rotator cuff, Brian Kelly announced Thursday on his radio show.
Reliford was injured in LSU’s 56-10 win over Southeastern Louisiana. Immediately after the game, Kelly said Reliford would be unavailable against Ole Miss but that further testing would determine if season-ending surgery would be necessary.
The 6-foot-3, 265 pound end from Shreveport played in all 13 games as a freshman with one start. He had become a key part of the LSU rotation this year along with three veteran transfer additions. His 85 snaps trailed only Patrick Payton (133), Jack Pyburn (130) and Jimari Butler (92).
According to Pro Football Focus, Reliford was the second-highest graded defnesive end (73.6), behind Butler (75.8).
In his absence, redshirt sophomore Dylan Carpenter will likely see more snaps along with redshirt freshman Kolaj Cobbins and true freshman Damien Shanklin.
