METAIRIE, La. – The New Orleans Saints and New York Giants released one of the week’s lengthiest injury reports, along with the Baltimore Ravens. Two of the Saints’ starting trench players have already been ruled out, per head coach Kellen Moore: right guard Cesar Ruiz and defensive end Chase Young.

New Orleans Saints

Did Not Participate:

TE Juwan Johnson (ankle)

T/G Trevor Penning (ankle)

OL Dillon Radunz (toe)

C/G Cesar Ruiz (ankle) – Ruled Out

DE Chase Young (calf) – Ruled Out

Limited Participation:

QB Taysom Hill (knee)

TE Foster Moreau (knee)

WR Trey Palmer (ankle)

S Justin Reid (knee)

DT John Ridgeway III (shoulder)

CB Isaac Yiadom (hamstring)

The Young injury has been one of the more fascinating stories of the Saints’ early season. Not putting him on Injured Reserved appeared to indicate that there was an expectation that he would be back in the lineup within the first four weeks. It seems to be a stark contrast now for him to be noted as “close” to returning last week and now being ruled out following the first practice of Week 5.

Without Ruiz, Radunz and now potentially Penning again, the ill-fated offensive line continues to cycle. Rookie offensive lineman Torricelli Simpkins III could be in for another start, but the Saints will have to turn to another player to shift inside if two starters end up unavailable.

Hill, Moreau and Ridgeway are all working their way back from injury lists.

New York Giants

Did Not Participate:

DL Dexter Lawrence (illness)

DB Tyler Nubin (groin)

RB Tyrone Tracy (shoulder)

OL Greg Van Roten (NIR – rest)

Limited Participation:

DB Dane Belton (shoulder)

DL D.J. Davidson (foot)

DL Chauncey Golston (ankle)

DB Jevon Holland (neck)

OL John Michael Schmitz (ankle)

DL Rakeem Nunez-Roches (foot)

Full Participation:

QB Jaxson Dart (hamstring)

RB Cam Skattebo (knee)

QB Russell Wilson (ankle)

The Giants’ list is extensive, but includes players like Lawrence and Van Roten who missed practice due to illness and rest, respectively. Additionally, the team listed three players as full participants. However, watching for the progress of Nubin and Tracy will be intriguing throughout the week.
