METAIRIE, La. – The New Orleans Saints and New York Giants have released their second injury report ahead of their Week 5 clash in the Big Easy. On it, the Saints see a couple of downgrades, but mostly good news for the team as it seeks its first win on Sunday.

C/G Cesar Ruiz (ankle) – Ruled Out

S Justin Reid (knee)
DT John Ridgeway III (shoulder)
The Saints saw some key upgrades with Johnson and Pennig ticking up in participation. The offense will already be without Ruiz at right guard. Losing another interior offensive lineman could be a pivotal development. Seeing Penning trend in the right direction is an important positive.
With Yiadom downgraded in the middle of the week, often a bad sign for the weekend’s availability, the table could be set for rookie cornerback Quincy Riley to make his first career start. He saw an uptick in snaps against the Buffalo Bills last week and was credited with just one catch allowed as the closest defender for 11 receiving yards.

The Giants saw a couple of upgrades as well with Van Roten getting part to participating after resting on Wednesday and safety Nubin moving up to limited. Nubin missed last week’s game and could be a big loss for the Giants in a second-consecutive week. His progress will be worth tracking on Friday.
Offensive tackle Andrew Thomas was downgraded to limited with a combination rest day and foot injury. He was not listed on Wednesday’s practice report with any kind of injury, foot or otherwise.
