NEW ORLEANS, La. — The New Orleans Saints have announced their roster movers ahead of Sunday’s Week 6 game against the New York Giants. Among the moves, a bit of a surprise with two big names returning to the lineup sooner than expected.
On Saturday, the Saints announced the following moves;
- QB Taysom Hill has been added to the active roster.
- TE Foster Moreau has been added to the active roster.
- WR Trey Palmer has been placed on Injured Reserve with his ankle injury.
- TE Moliki Matavao has been waived.
- DT John Ridgeway III has been downgraded to out as he works his way back from Injured Reserve with a pectoral injury.
The biggest news here comes down to Hill and Moreau. After just three days of limited practices, it’s a surprise to see them both active. It could just mean that there are specific areas of the game in which they may get involved.
For instance, in short-yardage situations like third and short of red zone opportunities, Hill could prove to bring a substantial boost. Meanwhile, Moreau’s ability as an all-around tight end could be helpful for New Orleans from numerous areas of the offense.
However, it is always possible that both are simply activated and active on Sunday as emergency options. It remains to be seen how things will pan out for both players.
One other notable situation here is that offensive lineman Cesar Ruiz was not moved to Injured Reserve despite being expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a high-ankle sprain. His avoiding the transaction list bodes well for his eventual return.
