NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Saints have announced their inactive players ahead of Sunday’s matchup with the New York Giants. With three players already ruled out, New Orleans has a few healthy scratches that have continued to rotate throughout the season.
Here are the team’s inactives:
- RB Devin Neal
- CB Isaac Yiadom (hamstring)
- RG Cesar Ruiz (ankle)
- OL Xavier Truss
- DT Khristian Boyd
- DE Chase Young (calf)
The most surprising element of this list are the names that are omitted. After just one week of practice, quarterback Taysom Hill and tight end Foster Moreau are active and expected to see some snaps in this week’s game. It’s likely that both players’ roles will be limited and measured. But there are areas of the field, especially in the red zone, that they could have a sizable impact.
With Yiadom out, rookie cornerback Quincy Riley is sure to see an uptick in action. He may not be on the field for the first snap, if the Saints’ defense opens in base. But once the team moves to five defensive backs, it’s expected that Riley will man the outside opposite cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry. Riley was targeted just once on 24 defensive snaps last week against the Buffalo Bills, per Pro Football Focus.
