The New Orleans Saints (1-4) got their first win of the season in a 26-14 victory over the New York Giants (1-4). Propped up by five turnovers forced by the Saints’ defense, New Orleans finally gets to enjoy a victory Monday. From explosive plays to key takeaways, from first wins to streaks snapped, here are the numbers that tell the story of Sunday’s matchup.
-1 – An awful officiating call took away a sack from Saints defensive end Carl Granderson in what is being called one of the worst roughing the passer calls in the NFL.

0 – For the second time this year, the Saints finished a game with no turnovers. For the first time this year, the team surrendered no sacks.
1 – Head coach Kellen Moore and quarterback Spencer Rattler earn their first wins. Cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry registered his first (and second) career interception. Wide receiver Rashid Shaheed caught his first 80+ yard pass.
5 – The New Orleans defense came up with five takeaways in this game. Their most since Week 9 in 2023. Coming into the match, New York had only turned the ball over three times this season. It was the first time the Saints forced five turnovers in consecutive possessions since 1991.
7.5 – Rattler set a career high in yards per attempt with 7.5.
10.2 – The Saints’ defense averages surrendering 10.2 points per game in the first quarter, the most in the NFL. However, the unit is No. 4 in the NFL in second half points given up with an average of 7.2 per game.
87 – Rattler and Shaheed’s 87-yard touchdown connection was the longest scrimmage touchdown play for the Saints since 2018, including the postseason and longest regular season scrimmage touchdown since 2016.

301 – The Saints’ two most recent wins, both against the Giants, took place 301 days apart from one another. The streak was among longest active NFL losing streaks. Their last win, also against the Giants, was in Week 14 of last year.
329 – It had been 329 days since the Saints’ last home win. The previous win was in Week 11 last year against the Cleveland Browns.
1998 – Rattler became the first quarterback drafted by New Orleans to win a game for New Orleans since 1998. Before Rattler, quarterback Danny Wuerffel went 2-2 during his second year.
