METAIRIE, La. – The New Orleans Saints are keeping their running back room and kick return tandem together after a flurry of roster moves on Tuesday generated some curiosity about the positions.
The Saints announced Thursday afternoon that they have re-signed veteran running back and kick returner Velus Jones Jr. to the practice squad.

This comes just two days after Jones was waived from the active roster, long enough to clear waivers. He was moved as the Saints needed to renegotiate their roster space in order to add veteran cornerback Micahel Davis.
Jones hasn’t contributed much to the team as a running back with only two offensive snaps played this season. However, he has been one of the team’s primary kick returners alongside fellow running back Kendre Miller.
It would not be a surprise to see Jones elevated from the practice squad this weekend against the New England Patriots to continue his returner role. So far this season, he has averaged just over 22 yards per kick return.
