Each week during the football season, college football expert Phil Steele joins “After Further Review” with Matt Moscona to preview the biggest games of the weekend. Here is Steele’s preview and prediction for the LSU vs. South Carolina matchup:
Coming into the season, both these teams were considered playoff contenders, but I thought South Carolina was not a playoff contender because of the fact that defensively, that was their strength last year, their defensive front seven, they were dominant at times. And this year, they lost six of their top seven guys off the defensive front. So the defense is not as good as last year. Offensively, it is Lenora, Sellers, or Bust. I thought South Carolina probably should have beat LSU last year, but this year, LSU is the better team. They’re at home. It’s in Death Valley. I liked LSU to win this one by more than the nine and a half. I think they’ll have a comfortable win, and folks will start perking up there in Baton Rouge.
