METAIRIE, La. – The New Orleans Saints’ practice attendance has held strong all week signaling a major boost to the team’s trenches as well as another big opportunity for a rookie on defense.
Like Wednesday and Thursday, the only player not spotted at the open portion of the Saints’ Friday practice was cornerback Isaac Yiadom. With the veteran out, rookie cornerback Quincy Riley is in line to make his second consecutive start.
Defensive end Chase Young looks like he’ll make his season debut, returning to the field all three days of practice. He may enter the weekend listed as questionable, but the value of getting him back out on the field against the New England Patriots can’t be understated.
Offensive lineman Cesar Ruiz continued to be active and participate despite that initial expectation of him missing four to six weeks with a high ankle sprain. He and fellow guard Trevor Penning both look good to go as the Saints could have their starting offensive line back together for the second time this season.
Quarterback Taysom Hill looks to be fully ingratiated at the signal caller position now, wearing a red, non-contact jersey for each for the last two days of practice. The decision looks to be more calculated around his position than anything else.
