CHICAGO, Ill. – This week’s game may have been the healthiest the New Orleans Saints have arrived to play a game, but it definitely is not the healthiest they’ve left. An injury-laden and error-ridden game leads to the team’s sixth loss of the season. The Windy City showdown between the Saints and the Chicago Bears ends with a 26-14 loss that is sure to raise a lot of questions for New Orleans.
The Story
The Saints may have to answer some big questions following this week’s performance. The offense looked lost, the defense was gashed in the run game and after a four-turnover performance, the noise around quarterback Spencer Rattler is likely to get very loud. New Orleans got its best game yet from wide receiver Chris Olave, but it wasn’t enough to overcome their own mistakes.
Add to that the many injuries the team experienced throughout the match and things don’t appear to be on a positive trajectory coming out of this Week 7 matchup.
Were it not for the poor play from Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, who did his best to keep the Saints in the game, the 12-point deficit likely would have been much larger. In the battle between the Saints and their former head coach Dennis Allen, Allen’s defense came out on top, while Bears head coach Ben Johnson put on a show with his rushing attack.

The Stats
- Wide receiver Chris Olave had his first multi-touchdown game with two scoring receptions.
- New Orleans ran for just 44 rushing yards while allowing 222 on 40 carries.
- Quarterback Spencer Rattler completed 20 of his 32 passing attempts for 233 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and three interceptions. He also lost a fumble during the first drive.
- Linebacker Demario Davis led the Saints in tackles with 10.
- Rookie cornerback Quincy Riley had his first career interception.
The Injuries
- Running back Kendre Miller was evaluated in the injury tent during the first quarter and was taken back to the locker room with a knee injury.
- Wide receiver Chris Olave limped off the field in the first half and was checked out in the injury tent. He returned to play shortly after.
- Cornerbacks Quincy Riley and Alontae Taylor were both down on the sideline after a play in the second half. Riley was evaluated in the injury tent before returning to action. Taylor also returned to the field of play without being evaluated and was later pulled out of the game to be checked out in the injury tent.
- Taylor was evaluated for a concussion and cleared to return.
- Center Erik McCoy left the field with an apparent arm injury. He was evaluated in the injury tent before heading to the locker room for the rest of the game.
