Summer’s long gone and the pools are closed, but that won’t stop us from diving in. Here are the key stats to know for every SEC matchup in Week 9.
Ole Miss at Oklahoma
4.9: Ole Miss ranks No. 16 in scoring, No. 3 in the SEC in total yards, and No. 2 nationally in plays over 30 yards, but they start slow, averaging just 4.86 first-quarter points, 97th in the nation.
1: Oklahoma’s defense ranks No. 1 in the SEC in points allowed (9.4), yards allowed (213.0), rushing defense (80.4 ypg) and passing defense (132.6).
52.5: The total for Saturday is 52.5. The under has hit in all of Oklahoma’s last eight games and in 13 of the last 19 games for Ole Miss.
3-6: Lane Kiffin is 3-6 vs top ten SEC teams since he’s been at Ole Miss.
Auburn at Arkansas
23.5: Arkansas averages 23.5 ppg in the first half of games this season, which leads the country.
5-8: Auburn is 5-8 in road games against Hugh Freeze and just 3-7 in road games against SEC opponents.
16: Arkansas ranks 16th out of 16 teams in the SEC in total defense (443.9), scoring defense (32.7) and rushing defense (188.7). They rank No. 15 in the SEC in pass defense allowing over 255 yards per game.
1: Jackson Arnold has thrown just one interception this season, which is tied for the fewest of any starting quarterback in the SEC.
Alabama at South Carolina
54: South Carolina rushed for 50 yards on the opening drive of last week’s game against Oklahoma. They finished the game with 54.
14: Kalen DeBoer has 14 losses as an FBS head coach.
13: 13 of DeBoer’s 14 losses have happened on the road or a neutral site game.
11: 11 of his 14 losses have been to unranked teams and when he was favored.
Missouri at Vanderbilt
75: This is the first time Vanderbilt has started 6-1 in the last 75 years.
60: Beau Pribula hasn’t completed over 60% of his passes in any game against an SEC opponent this season.
5: Missouri has recorded five sacks in two of their three SEC games this season, including last week’s game at Auburn. Vanderbilt has allowed five sacks all season which is the fewest in the SEC.
5: Missouri ranks top five in the nation in time of possession (34:15, No. 5), opponent’s time of possession (25:28, No. 4), number of offensive plays per game (77.14, No. 4) and opponent’s number of offensive plays per game (56.86, No. 5).
Texas at Mississippi State
6-1: Mississippi State is 6-1 against the spread this season, including a 4-0 mark at home. Both numbers are tied for best in America.
0-3: Texas is 0-3 against the spread away from home this season. That’s tied for worst in the country. They are currently a 6.5 point favorite this weekend at Mississippi State.
Texas A&M at LSU
9.3: LSU is averaging 9.3 ppg in the first half of games this season, which is last in the SEC, sixth worst in Power Four, and No. 110 in FBS.
22.99: Texas A&M is first in the SEC in opponent’s third down percentage allowed at just 22.99 percent. That number nearly doubles in road games allowing 44% of third down conversions away from College Station (11-of-25).
40.8: Texas A&M has allowed 40.8 ppg in their last five road games under Mike Elko. That includes 42.3 ppg allowed in their last four road games against SEC opponents dating back to last year’s South Carolina game.
Tennessee at Kentucky
22.5: Tennessee ranks No. 4 in the FBS with 22.5 points per game in the first half this season.
14.3: Tennessee ranks first nationally in first quarter points per game with 14.3. Nearly two points higher than the next closest team Texas Tech at 12.5.
13.3: Kentucky’s defense ranks No. 126 in FBS in yards per pass allowed. Tennessee ranks No. 20 in the same metric offensively.
