Arch Manning is in concussion protocol this weekend ahead of Texas’ showdown against No. 9 Vanderbilt.
Manning suffered an injury in overtime against Mississippi State and had to be helped off the field afterwards. He did not participate at Texas’ Monday practice, and Sarkisian told reporters he expects to have an update later this week.

If Manning can’t play, Troy transfer Matthew Caldwell would get the nod as the starting QB against the Commodores.
“He’s a guy that has been in a variety of systems,” Sarkisian said. “He has athleticism, throws a really good ball. What I liked about him on his visit, probably the biggest thing was his demeanor. It didn’t seem too big for him here.”
Caldwell has only attempted 11 passes this season.
