The New Orleans Saints (1-8) fell to the Los Angeles Rams (6-2) by way of a 34-10 blowout loss. The loss is the latest in a string of trying results for the team. While it stresses the focus on a positive process, the numbers behind the team’s most recent loss tell a concerning story of deficiency not seen for many years in the Big Easy.
1 – Saints running back Alvin Kamara saw just one snap after his fumble in the third quarter.
By the looks of it, #Saints RB Alvin Kamara’s fumble took place with 4:06 left in the third quarter and he only received one snap after that, the fourth and 4 interception. I asked Kellen Moore if there was intent behind the lack of snaps after the fumble:

4 – Without quarterback Taysom Hill’s 29-yard rush, the longest run for the Saints was just four yards. Running backs gained just 2.78 yards per carry.
10 – Wide receiver Devaughn Vele has seen just 10 targets so far this season. The Saints traded away their fourth-round pick in 2026 and seventh-rounder in 2027 to acquire him this offseason.
16:07 – The Saints finished their game with just 16:07 in time of possession. It was the least time they’ve held the football on offense in franchise history, and the 13th lowest time possible in league history.
The Saints 16:07 time of possession was the 13th lowest in NFL history.

31 – Averaging just 15.3 points per game, the Saints now rank No. 31 in the league in scoring offense.
40 – New Orleans ran only 40 offensive plays against the Rams. That total tied for the second-fewest in the NFL this season and the second-fewest in the team’s history.
45 – It’s been 45 years since the Saints have started a season 1-8.
53.3 – Surprisingly, the Saints have faced the second-lowest percentage of stacked boxes (eight or more defenders in the box) in the league with 53.3%, per Next Gen Stats. Despite that, the team has generated the third-least yards before contact in the run game.
75 – Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 75% of his passes against the Saints’ defense. He’s the fourth starting passer to finish a game against New Orleans completing at least 70% of his passes.
100 – The Saints failed to accumulate 100 rushing yards as a team for the fifth-consecutive game of the season.
