NEW ORLEANS, La. — The New Orleans Saints are sellers, exactly as they needed to be. Hours before the NFL’s trade deadline, the Saints have reportedly struck their first major deal.
Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Saints have traded wide receiver Rashid Shaheed to the Seattle Seahawks.

Shaheed, 27, is in the final year of his contract and New Orleans was going to have to find a way to potentially pay two high output wideouts.
With this move, the team can focus on ongoing contract negotiations with wideout Chris Olave. This will also provide New Orleans a chance to get a better evaluation of wide receiver Devaughn Vele, for whom they sent top-100 draft capital to the Denver Broncos.
The Saints will receive fourth and fifth-round selections in the 2026 Draft as compensation.
