It’s a light SEC slate this week, just five conference matchups, while Ole Miss hosts FCS opponent The Citadel. Betting lines barely moved, except for one game in Tuscaloosa, where the spread has shifted significantly.
When sportsbooks released their summer lines, LSU–Alabama opened at Alabama -6.5. It climbed to 11.5–12.5 earlier this week and now sits at 10.5 on the eve of kickoff. It’s the biggest line movement of any SEC game, with 81% of the money on LSU.
A fascinating note this week comes from Georgia–Mississippi State. Georgia is still a 9.5-point favorite, yet just two percent of the money is on them. Oddsmakers like Action Network value the line closer to -6.5, making Mississippi State an appealing play.
The biggest line of the season is in the Ole Miss-Citadel game. Rarely do sportsbooks open a betting line between a Power 4 and FCS team. That’s especially the case with a top five team like Ole Miss. However, later in the week several books released lines at 53 and 54 points.
