The New Orleans Saints have elevated two players in preparation for Sunday’s matchup with the Carolina Panthers. The team also provided an update on an offensive lineman trying to make his way back to the field from Injured Reserve.
New Orleans announced Saturday that it will elevate wide receiver Dante Pettis and guard William Sherman as standard elevations on Sunday.
Meanwhile, offensive lineman Barry Wesley has been downgraded to out after being listed as questionable Friday’s injury report.
Saints head coach Kellen Moore said Friday that Pettis will be the team’s primary punt returner this weekend after winning a battle in practice over cornerback Jayden Price.
The responsibility previously belonged to wide receiver Rashid Shaheed, who was traded to the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday.
Sherman will provide additional depth after lineman Trevor Penning was traded to the Los Angeles Chargers and while right tackle Taliese Fuaga is out with an ankle injury. Wesley will continue his work back from Injured Reserve for at least another week. He was placed in the injury list at roster cuts and his 21-day practice window opened on Wednesday.
