It was a night to forget for two conference rivals, each on the road with interim head coaches against former divisional foes. Both teams lost and benched their preseason All-SEC quarterbacks.
LSU went to Tuscaloosa with a rejuvenated energy looking to upset No. 4 Alabama. While most were glued to that game, they may have missed what happened in Lexington. And, what happened in Lexington was an absolute beating.
DJ Lagway’s Jekyll and Hyde season continued. He finished the night 11-of-19 for 83 yards. If the 4.4 yards per pass wasn’t bad enough, the three interceptions were. It is the third time this season he has thrown multiple interceptions in a conference game.
DJ Lagway has been benched vs. Kentucky.
Lagway has thrown 11 Passing TDs and 12 Interceptions this season.
Just a disastrous season for a QB who had Heisman hopes in the preseason. pic.twitter.com/c4K2dKEKLU

Kentucky’s redshirt freshman quarterback Cutter Boley was the exact opposite and incredibly efficient all night for the Wildcats. He completed over 78% of his passes (18-for-23) for 179 yards and two touchdowns. The story for Kentucky’s offense was on the ground, though. The Cats ran all over Florida’s defense. They were led by Dante Dowdell and Seth McGowan who combined for 29 carries for 196 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
From 1987 to 2020 Kentucky had only beaten Florida one time. They have now beaten them four of the last five years. Their last three wins against the Gators have all come by double digits and an average of 20 ppg.
The win inched them closer to bowl eligibility with a 4-5 record with three games remaining this season.
We lost to 3-5 Kentucky by 31 as 3.5 favorites.
