New Orleans Saints
By Ross Jackson
The New Orleans Saints improved to 2-8 after their 17-7 victory over the Carolina Panthers, who fell to 5-5 on their home turf.
The Story
The Saints may have promise at quarterback again. In the most promising performance by a New Orleans passer in some time, Tyler Shough looked poised and under control while piling on big plays for the Saints. He consistently moved well under pressure and found open receivers. His third down plays kept the game alive and extended time of possession enough for the quarterback Taysom Hill to close the contest out with some bruising rushing plays.
Shough proved on Sunday why the Saints made the decision to draft him highly and now will enter the buy week on an upward trajectory.
His connections with wide receiver Chris Olave, who surpassed 100 receiving yards for the first time this year, and tight end Juwan Johnson opened the offense up well. Not just from the big play perspective, but also in helping the rushing attack get going as well.
This was the first look at what the Saints hoped to see with Shough and it was a good one.
