Georgia beat Texas 35-10 Saturday night to put Longhorn playoff hopes on life support.

The Story

Georgia has heard that Texas is the new top dog in the SEC since the moment they joined the conference. They’ve now played the Longhorns three times. They’ve now beaten the Longhorns three times.

Texas took the opening kickoff and went 13 plays for 59 yards and a field goal to open the game taking a 3-0 lead. After the scripted start from Steve Sarkisian and company the Longhorns next four possessions resulted in three punts and an interception. Only one of those possessions last longer than four plays.

Texas made it close in the second half. After an interception, Texas was able to punch in a touchdown to make it 14-10. The Longhorns’ defense turned up the pressure after that and harassed Gunner Stockton for most of the second half. Going into the fourth quarter the defense had eight pressures and three sacks.

Georgia did what Georgia does though. They kept chopping. The Bulldogs scored another touchdown to go up 21-10 and then on the ensuing kickoff surprised everyone with an onside kick. Georgia would cash in to go up 28-10, burying Texas and putting the Longhorns hopes of making another College Football Playoff almost certainly to bed.
