The Story

South Carolina came out with their hair on fire to start the game. They forced three turnovers, including one for a touchdown and took a 30-3 lead at halftime. The Gamecocks dominated the first 30 minutes and capitalized off of a lot of mental mistakes from Texas A&M.

Mike Elko must have given the greatest half time speech ever. The Aggies cut into the lead quickly. They piled on 21 points and outgained South Carolina 240–65 in the third quarter, then added another touchdown with 10:47 left in the fourth, capping four straight scoring drives.

The Stats

312: South Carolina’s offense has been the worst in the SEC all season, failing to gain more than 341 yards in any game. They had 312 in the first half.

0-8: Texas A&M came into Saturday’s game leading the country in third down defense at 24.11%. However, it was the Gamecocks who won third down for most of the game, holding the Aggies to 0-for-8 on their first eight attempts of the game.

0-286: Since 2004 teams trailing by 27 or more points were 0-286 in the SEC. The Aggies became the first team in 21 years to pull off the feat.

Weird Moment

After an 80 yard touchdown reception to Nyck Harbor, a member of the gameday security and Texas A&M Police had an incident with the wide receiver. The incident went viral and he was later relieved of his duties for the day.
