Colin Hurley could rejoin LSU’s football program.
The redshirt freshman quarterback stepped away from the team prior to the Alabama game. He did not travel to Tuscaloosa or join the team against Arkansas.
“He took a leave of personal related matters,” said Interim Head Coach Frank Wilson. “It is temporary right now at this time.”
With starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier nursing an oblique injury and Hurley away from the team, LSU is down to one healthy scholarship quarterback, Michael Van Buren.
“We’ve got a guy who went through the entire spring with us in Ju’Juan Johnson at quarterback,” Wilson said. “All the way up until fall camp, who we’ve been constantly still working as Garrett injury started to reveal itself even more to have an emergency plan. And we feel confident about that. We feel confident about Emile (Picarella) being able to step in and get us out of the game if we needed to do so. So, we’ve got a contingency plan that we feel confident in.”
Picarella is a freshman walk on from University Lab School on LSU’s campus.
