Another week means another opportunity for junior linebacker Whit Weeks to return.
That return hasn’t happened yet. Interim Head Coach Frank Wilson is still holding out hope that LSU’s defensive captain will play again in 2025.
“I sure hope he would,” Wilson said. “He makes us better. I’m respectful and understanding of his injury, of his future and the things that he’s trying to attain. I think it’s there’s a possibility of him being able to play, he’s going to position himself to do so. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened in the last several weeks.”
A bone bruise has kept Weeks in a walking boot week after week as he has watched from the sideline. According to Wilson, Weeks has dressed for practices and gone through some team activities. That hasn’t translated to game reps. Only two weeks remain.
“We’ll try again this week,” Wilson said. “I spoke to him this morning. He has a desire and a want to play and to finish this season in the way that he sees fit. And we certainly want to accommodate him in doing so.”
