Hours after Ole Miss Athletic Director Keith Carter issued a statement to calm the stormy seas in Oxford, gale force winds are coming from the south.
Ross Dellenger of Yahoo! is reporting that LSU is prepared to make a formal offer to Lane Kiffin that exceeds $90 million and financially ensures more than $25 million annually in player NIL opportunities in addition to the revenue sharing that escalates from $20 million dollars moving forward.
As Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss met Friday, confidence brewed in Baton Rouge: LSU is finalizing a near $90M+ offer to the coach – blessed by the governor – and $25M+ in annual roster cash in its most serious push to gain his commit, sources tell @YahooSportshttps://t.co/TcySy1MUmg

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry publicly lamented LSU’s $95 million, fully guaranteed contract with former head coach Brian Kelly. Dellenger is reporting this offer has the Governor’s blessing.
Carter’s Friday statement declared that Kiffin would coach next week’s Egg Bowl prior to his future status in Oxford being determined. Its ambiguity opened the door for reporting to suggest that Kiffin was leaning toward leaving for LSU or Florida. That reporting came four hours later.
Kiffin currently makes $9 million per year at Ole Miss, and the Rebel administration has worked to get an extension done over the last two months. That has not happened.
The media whirlwind in Oxford is not slowing down, and pressure could mount over the coming days. Carter suggested nothing further will come until after Friday’s game.
Seven days feels like a long time.
