Hard to kill. That’s been the motto for Oklahoma during the second half of the season.

The motto continued to be true on Saturday and is especially true when Oklahoma plays clean football. Oklahoma beat No. 22 Missouri 17-6 to improve to 9-2 and one win away from a likely berth in the College Football Playoff.

The Sooners weren’t mistake free, but they once again won the turnover battle 2-0, something they struggled with all season until November, and they were relentless on third down, holding Missouri to just 3-of-14.

It was the second straight game that Oklahoma was held to under 300 yards of offense and outgained by their opponent. But, it was the second consecutive game they left the field with another win and another win over a ranked opponent at that. The Sooners now have five top 25 wins on the season which is more than any other team in the country.

Despite completing less than 50 percent of his passes, John Mateer was key, scoring both of Oklahoma’s touchdowns. The defense added two interceptions and four sacks as they smothered Missouri’s offense all afternoon. They also held RB Ahmad Hardy to just 57 yards on 17 carries.

The Stats

+6: Oklahoma is +6 in their 3 games in the month of November. They were -6 in their first eight games of the year.

1: Oklahoma has allowed one 100 yard rusher all season. That was in week two against Michigan with RB Justice Haynes.

7: Tate Sendell has made seven field goals of 50 yards or more this season. That’s the second most in a single season in NCAA history, and the most in any season over the last 43 years.
