Ole Miss has moved quickly to replace Lane Kiffin, promoting defensive coordinator Pete Golding to the full-time head coach position, LouisianaSports.net has learned.
On3 was the first to report the news.
Golding, a Hammond, La., native has spent the last three seasons on Kiffin’s staff in Oxford. The two first connected as assistants on Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama.
Kiffin left Ole Miss Sunday to accept the head coaching position at LSU and is reportedly taking the bulk of his offensive staff with him. Golding was expected to join Kiffin in Baton Rouge until Ole Miss promoted him.
Ole Miss is expected to earn an at-large berth in the College Football Playoff.
