NEW ORLEANS, La. — Ahead of their NFC South battle in Tampa, the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers provided injury updates on two key contributors.
Saints WR Chris Olave
Olave is expected to take the field on Sunday, per multiple reports. The first coming from Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football.
This is the expected result for the wideout who missed Wednesday’s practice managing the back injury he suffered in practice ahead of the team’s Week 13 contest. He returned for both Thursday and Friday’s practices this week.
Olave and wide receiver Devaughn Vele will have a positive matchup this weekend as they face the No. 29 passing defense in the league. As long as the offensive line can keep rookie quarterback Tyler Shough clean enough to deliver, both pass-catchers are likely to receive a wealth of opportunities.
Buccaneers LT Tristan Wirfs
Wirfs, on the other hand, is not expected to take the field Sunday. Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Wirfs is not likely to play this weekend due to an oblique injury which forced him into the weekend with a questionable designation.
The talented offensive tackle was upgraded to limited on Friday after missing the first two days of practice.
With Wirfs out, Saints defensive end Chase Young should draw an advantageous matchup against a backup left tackle. During the Week 8 game between these two teams, Yount notched a strip sack, stealing a possession back to the offense.
This week, Young will absolutely be looking to have another big impact, but will also be hoping this time leads to a different result than the teams’ last meeting.
