Lane Kiffin is targeting a veteran SEC coach with NFL experience to lead his special teams at LSU.
Former Florida special teams coordinator Joe Houston was visiting the LSU facility Wednesday, LouisianaSports.net has learned. Sources could not confirm if Houston had agreed to join Lane Kiffin’s staff.
Houston spent the last two seasons in Gainesville on Billy Napier’s staff, overseeing the Gators special teams in 2025. From 2020-2023, he was a special teams assistant with the New England Patriots. He has also spent time at Alabama, Iowa State and Toledo.
As a player, Houston was a placekicker at Southern Cal from 2007-2010 before spending one season kicking in the Arena Football League.
Aman Anand served as LSU’s special teams coordinator this season. The Tigers lose Damian Ramos, the program’s all-time leading scorer but return third-team All SEC punter Grant Chadwick. Aeron Burrell, who handled kickoff duties, also returns for the Tigers.
