After putting together their first back-to-back wins since last year, the New Orleans Saints are eying a third in a row for what would be a first since 2022. The team will host the New York Jets for their final home game of the 2025 season and before doing so, saw the Jets make a major staff change.
After ranking No. 12 against the pass and No. 29 against the run through 14 weeks and notching a 3-11 record, head coach Aaron Glenn announced Monday that the Jets have parted ways with defensive coordinator Steve Wilks.
This is on the heels of surrendering 48 points to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the teams’ Week 15 meeting. The Jets rank No. 30 in total points allowed and are the only defense in the NFL without a single interception so far on the season. New York’s sack total of just 22 is tied for second-fewest in the NFL as well.
Glenn also announced that defensive backs coach and defensive passing game coordinator Chris Harris will step into Wilks’ vacated spot for the remainder of the season. A career-long defensive backs coach in the NFL, Harris has not been a defensive coordinator before but has more than a decade of experience as a position coach working with talented coordinators along the way.
New Orleans is surging while the Jets are floundering. The Saints will have to hope that this change on defense won’t create some kind of jolt for the Jets as they head to the Big Easy in Week 16.
