After giving serious consideration to entering the transfer portal, Dashawn Spears has informed the LSU coaching staff he will remain at LSU.
On3’s Pete Nakos originally reported Spears would enter the portal. He then tweeted Spears has opted to stay. LouisianaSports.net has confirmed the news.

Spears signed with LSU in 2024 as a four-star prospect from nearby Denham Springs. He played sparingly as a freshman and carved out a role in LSU’s dime package in 2025 and picked off Florida’s DJ Lagway twice and returned one for a score. That earned him SEC Defensive Player of the Week.
He was the second highest graded Tiger defender according to Pro Football Focus. His 90.6 trailed only All-American Mansoor Delane (90.7). Spears only logged 225 snaps in LSU’s 13 games or about 17 per contest.
In two seasons at LSU, Spears has played in all 26 games with four starts. He made 53 tackles with two sacks and the two interceptions. He’s likely to slot in beside Tamarcus Cooley in the 2026 lineup.
He’ll have two seasons of eligibility left.
