As LSU sees an influx of defensive lineman commitments via the transfer portal, a young contributor is leaving the program.
Defensive tackle Walter “Buddy” Mathis, Jr. will enter the transfer portal, according to Hayes Fawcett.

LSU had previously announced Mathis would return for his sophomore season. Mathis (6’2, 285) played in 12 games as a true freshman, totaling nine tackles.
LSU has added Malik Blocton of Auburn and Stephiylan Green from Clemson at defensive tackle in this portal cycle.
