It’s been a bad 24 hours for Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss.
Chambliss had been given an initial verbal denial in December, but the NCAA made it official on early Friday afternoon. He was denied the request for a sixth year of eligibility. The news comes just a day after Ole Miss lost in heartbreaking fashion to Miami in the Fiesta Bowl.

Before playing the 2025 season, Chambliss spent four years at Division II Ferris State. While Ole Miss can still appeal the decision, the most likely ending to this story is Trinidad Chambliss entering the NFL Draft. He is currently listed as the No. 4 quarterback available on Mel Kiper’s big board.
The NCAA released this statement:
“In November, Ole Miss filed a waiver request for football student-athlete Trinidad Chambliss, seeking to extend his five-year Division I eligibility clock, citing an incapacitating illness or injury. Approval requires schools to submit medical documentation provided by a treating physician at the time of a student’s incapacitating injury or illness, which was not provided. The documents provided by Ole Miss and the student’s prior school include a physician’s note from a December 2022 visit, which stated the student-athlete was “doing very well” since he was seen in August 2022.”
