Weekend visitors are hitting campuses all over the country as the final full weekend of the transfer portal is here before it closes on Friday. Here is the latest on some of the biggest targets across the SEC.

Top QB targets head to Ole Miss

With the news of Trinidad Chambliss’s eligibility waiver being denied by the NCAA, Ole Miss will be hosting two big names from the portal at the quarterback position. Most notably, former five star and Florida DJ Lagway will head to Oxford this weekend. Lagway committed to Baylor on Thursday but has not signed any official paperwork with Baylor yet.

Ole Miss will also be hosting former Auburn quarterback Deuce Knight. On3 updated his recruitment with a prediction for him to land at Ole Miss on Friday. That makes the Lagway news even more intriguing.

Cam Coleman heads to Tuscaloosa

The top non-quarterback in the portal cycle is currently in Tuscaloosa for a visit to Alabama. Coleman has had a whirlwind of a week visiting various suitors. Coleman visited Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech earlier this week. The Alabama visit is expected to be his last and a decision on his next destination could come as early as Sunday.

South Carolina working on Chaz Coleman

On Wednesday South Carolina was one of only two teams in the SEC that didn’t receive a single commitment from the portal. The other was Ole Miss, and they were a bit preoccupied playing in the CFP Semifinal. Since then South Carolina has caught fire getting pledges from six commitments including the No. 1 offensive tackle in the portal Jacarrius Peak. They are now focusing their efforts on another top ten target in former Penn State EDGE Chaz Coleman.

South Carolina recently hired Coleman’s former position coach from Penn State Deion Barnes.

Miami having a huge weekend

Three players with SEC ties are expected to be in Coral Gables this weekend visiting Miami ahead of their national championship game appearance on Jan. 19. The biggest name is the No. 1 overall player in the portal Sam Leavitt. The quarterback visited LSU earlier this week and then took a trip to Knoxville to visit Tennessee on Thursday and Friday. Lane Kiffin reportedly flew to Knoxville to meet Leavitt at the airport before he left for Miami.

Miami is also expected to be hosting two former five star SEC starters this weekend. Missouri EDGE Damon Wilson II is reportedly lining up a visit with the Hurricanes as is former South Carolina LT Josiah Thompson. Wilson is one of the top ten players available in the transfer portal for the second year in a row. Thompson is a former five star that has started every game at left tackle for South Carolina his first two seasons in college.
