On Saturday, Feb. 7, New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough will ride as the Grand Marshal for the Krewe of Pygmalion as Pygmalion Fest moves to the New Orleans Convention Center for the first time in its history.
The event will be the latest in a series of Shough’s intentional and genuine efforts in connecting with the city of New Orleans. He will join previous Saints quarterbacks like legends Drew Brees and Archie Manning to be featured during Carnival season celebrations and called it an opportunity too good to pass up.
More from @DMoutonWWL and I’s conversation with Louisiana legend Desi Vega and #Saints QB Tyler Shough who will serve as King and Grand Marshal of the Krewe of Pygmalion.

“I’m just excited to have fun and be around the whole experience,” Shough said. “Anytime you get to do that, it’s hard to say ‘no’ to. For me, this time of year in New Orleans, it’s what it’s all about.”
This will be Shough’s first Mardi Gras experience. Riding in one of the first weekend’s tone-setters is an undeniably great way to break things in. However, for Shough, the opportunity is just as much about continuing his bustling connection with the city of New Orleans.
“My whole goal with being here was (to) master the offense, so I’m at the facility every day,” he said. “Be the best dad I can, first and foremost, be the best husband I can. We’re here in New Orleans, do everything I can. And with that extra free time, how can I be out and be about and be around everybody and be intentional about (my) time?”
Shough’s made quite the impression with Saints fans by taking the time to visit fan-favorite podcasts and embrace interview opportunities. He will now be a core part of the city’s biggest celebration alongside a Louisiana legend in restaurateur Desi Vega, who was named King of the Krewe of Pygmalion this year.
Vega was instrumental in Shough’s involvement as the two have maintained a strong connection since Shough’s arrival.
Couldn’t be more excited for this: @RossJacksonNOLA & I are hosting @WWLTV ‘s coverage of the Krewe of Pygmalion.

“I’m just honored to be able to kind of do this,” Shough said. “I feel very undeserving. It’s an opportunity to be with my friend, Desi, to honor Pygmalion and honor the whole city.”
The Krewe of Pygmalion parade will roll on the traditional St. Charles route through Uptown with Pygmalion Fest kicking off as the after-parade party. Viewing of the parade is, of course, free for all who wish to attend along the route and tickets for the after-parade party can be purchased here.
WWL Louisiana will have coverage of the parade as well airing locally and on the free WWL+ app. The coverage will be hosted by WWL Sports Director Doug Mouton and LouisianaSports.Net’s Ross Jackson.
