The New Orleans Saints received some promising news in regards to their coaching staff on Tuesday.
Quarterbacks coach Scott Tolzien is expected to remain with the Saints in 2026 as the team’s quarterbacks coach, per NFL Insider Jordan Schultz.

Tolzien was under consideration for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offensive coordinator role, but has reportedly informed the Saints that he will instead remain in New Orleans.
That’s a major win for the Saints, as it guarantees consistency for second-year quarterback Tyler Shough, who impressed during his rookie year.
The potential loss of Tolzien loomed large for the team, as he cultivated strong relationships inside the quarterback room and was often credited by each passer for his contributions to growth and development.
With the former NFL passer remaining in the Big Easy, the three of the Saints’ top offensive minds remain intact and bring NFL quarterback experience to Shough’s ongoing progress.
Tolzein successfully prepared Shough and fellow quarterback Spencer Rattler for starting roles throughout the 2025 season and will now bridge his leadership and familiarity with head coach Kellen Moore’s offense into a second year.
Per Schultz, Tolzein was considered the leading favorite to land the Steelers’ offensive coordinator role. Despite that and his experience with Pittsburgh head coach Mike McCarthy, he opts to remain in New Orleans. A major win for Moore, Shough and the Saints.
