LSU landed a flurry of commitments about two weeks into the portal period.
They appeared significant.
Sean Thompkins and Devin Harper joined the offensive line haul. Then Faheem Delane fled Ohio State for LSU to boost the secondary. TJ Dottery, who led the SEC in tackles, departed Ole Miss for LSU. Princewill Umanmielen did the same, bringing his nine sacks.
In the middle of all that, Aliou Bah pledged to LSU from Maryland. That felt as impactful as any of the additions.
WHAT WE KNOW
Bah was a prized recruit coming out of IMG Academy. On3 and Rivals called him a top 20 interior offensive lineman nationally, and Georgia snagged him.
He redshirted on a national championship team and played in three games the following year.
At 6-foot-6 and 320-plus lbs., he was a coveted transfer when he landed at Maryland and made an instant impact. Over two seasons as a Terp, he started all 24 games as a guard.
According to Pro Football Focus, he did not allow a sack in 2024 and only allowed his quarterback to be hit twice. He graded a 72.3 in pass blocking which was his strength.
In the running game, PFF graded him a 51.2. He only graded out 60-plus once, and that was against an FCS school in Towson.
Bah is big and experienced, and LSU’s line was in desperate need of power four starters.
THE FIT
LSU’s 2025 guards bolted. Paul Mubenga, Coen Echols, DJ Chester and Carius Curne entered the portal and landed at other power programs.
Bah appears to be a plug-and-play piece to this class.
He played right guard at Maryland, and it stands to reason he’ll do the same at LSU. He’ll have competition from Devin Harper, Soloman Thomas, Sean Thompkins, Ja’Quan Spinkle and Bo Bordelon among others, but he’s the leader because of his size and experience.
HUNT’S PROJECTION
LSU didn’t grab many players with one year of eligibility remaining. Bah is one of them. He’s in Baton Rouge to start, and he will.
I’ve got him at right guard next to Braelin Moore to give LSU real experience on the offensive interior. I’ll hear a case for as many as four players at both left guard and right tackle. Left tackle, center and right guard are spoken for in my eyes.
Bah has to become a more physical run blocker. That’s a lot to ask of a player of his experience level, but as good as Jordan Seaton and Moore are in the passing game, Bah fits right in with them. LSU should be able to protect the passer very well in 2026, and that means big things considering the weapons they brought in this cycle on the outside.
