The Lane Kiffin Effect is real.
LSU currently has roughly 44,000 people on a football season ticket waiting list, athletic director Verge Ausberry said Tuesday on 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge.
“The most we’ve ever had is 17,000,” Ausberry said. “It’s Lane Kiffin. It’s the team he recruited, the players he recruited and also a great home schedule we have.”
LSU will open the Kiffin era at home against Clemson and will also host Texas A&M and Alabama–both College Football Playoff participants a season ago. Arch Manning and Texas will make their first visit to Baton Rouge since 1953.
An LSU spokesperson told LouisianaSports.net season tickets are sold out with approximately 71,250 sold and renewals near 98 percent.
“We haven’t had this much buzz around this team since the 2019 national championship team,” Ausberry said. “There’s a lot of buzz and a lot of excitement with LSU right now, not only with our fan base but throughout the country. There’s a lot of activity, a lot of corporate sponsors, a lot of donors betting on LSU right now.”
The Tigers will hold their first spring practice under Kiffin on March 24 with the spring game a month later on April 24.
