The ongoing “will-he-won’t-he” around retired New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr continues.
Per NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, teams in need of a quarterback believe that Carr is “very serious about unretiring and returning to the NFL.”
This should be music to the Saints’ ears as they continue to control his rights through the 2026 season.
Any team looking to acquire his services before his original agreement in New Orleans expires will likely have to do so by sending trade capital in return.
The compensation for a passer with no future in New Orleans and a recently extensive injury history won’t be anything substantial. However, anything in return for the veteran quarterback should be considered a win for and by the team.
Teams like the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals are among the long list of quarterback-needy teams looking to find an answer in an otherwise limited talent pool at the position.
Carr recently expressed his needs for a return, including the ability to compete for a Super Bowl. That condition has quickly focused the spotlight on the Kevin O’Connell-led Vikings as the best landing spot for the retired passer.
