It’s just different. It just means more. Whatever robotic cliche you want to use for the SEC, that’s fine.
This week in Indianapolis, though, the full depth of the conference is proving once again why those silly bumper sticker type phrases are proving to once again be right.
The SEC had five teams make the playoffs, and once again had the most players invited to the NFL Combine by a whopping 30 more than the Big Ten. It was the players from the bottom dwelling teams that turned heads the most in Indianapolis on Saturday, however. Players from Kentucky, Arkansas and South Carolina put on a show at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Here were some of the top performances from Saturday.
Arkansas RB Mike Washington Jr.
Not a lot has gone right on the field for Arkansas over the last few seasons. The NFL Combine is showing once again that it may not have been for lack of talent in Fayetteville. Running back Mike Washington Jr. finished the 2025 season with over 1,000 yards rushing and 6.41 yards per carry, which was good enough for second in the league.
On Saturday, he stole the show with an unofficial 4.33-second 40-yard dash, the fastest among running backs in Indianapolis. He also ranked top two at his position in the vertical (39 inches) and broad jump (10 feet, 8 inches).

Arkansas QB Taylen Green
A very selfish part of me wishes Taylen Green would’ve played at a different school. I’ve said for two seasons he was a must-see every time he was on the field. He was a frustrating quarterback because of the constant turnovers that plagued him even back at Boise State, but from a pure athleticism standpoint, he is a unicorn. Green measured 6-foot-6 and 227 pounds in Indianapolis, and then the fun began.
Green jumped out of the building and registered a 43.5-inch vertical. Not only was that the highest of any quarterback at this year’s combine, it was the highest of any quarterback in the history of the combine – by three full inches. Then, he ran the 40 and ran an unofficial 4.37. That’s the second fastest time in the history of the combine by any quarterback.
TAYLEN GREEN WITH TWO NFL COMBINE RECORDS?! 🤯
The previous QB records for the vertical (40.5″) and broad jump (10’9″) at the Combine were set by Anthony Richardson in 2023.

Kentucky RB Seth McGowan
Similar to Arkansas, not a ton has happened in football, or any sport for that matter, that has made the Kentucky faithful very proud. Last season’s running back Seth McGowan did have a tremendous performance at the Combine, though.
McGowan came within an eyelash of the NFL combine record for running backs with a 42.5-inch vertical jump. He also put up an absolutely absurd 10-foot-11-inch broad jump.
