It was always a possibility this offseason, and it was always going to be a gut-punch for the New Orleans Saints. Linebacker Demario Davis is expected to wear a new, but familiar, jersey in 2026.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Davis will reunite with the New York Jets when the new league year begins.
After agreeing to terms in a two-year, $22 million with $15 million guaranteed, Davis’s incredible eight-year run will officially come to an end in the Crescent City on Wednesday, when the deal can be made officially.
Barring any last-second changes, Davis will head back to the Jets, where his career began in 2012. This will be the five-time All-Pro (one-time First-Team) backer’s third stint with New York.
Losing Davis in New Orleans is about much more than the on-field contributions, which helped to revitalize defense for the franchise, but his incredible work in the community, as well.
Davis is more than a fixture for the Saints, he’s been a fixture in the community.
His production and impact will be hard to replace as the Saints now look to turn to second year linebacker Danny Stutsman and veteran Pete Werner to lead the position group, barring additions this year.
