The New Orleans Saints just closed an eight month loop by reportedly agreeing to terms on a two-year deal with tight end Noah Fant.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Saints and Fant have agreed on a deal to bring him back to the Crescent City.
Back? Indeed.
Fant visited the Saints last July during training camp while New Orleans was interested in signing him and adding him to the 2025 roster.
Ahead of the visit, starting Saints tight end Juwan Johnson was asked about the potential addition of Fant to the offense. He was highly complimentary of the pass-catcher, praising him for the extra big play ability he could help to provide to the team.
“He can add so much,” Johnson said. “One, he can add a lot of explosiveness to the offense and I’d be extremely excited to have him here.”
Now, the two will be teammates as the NFL transitions to more multiple tight end sets. This should bring a new and exciting element to head coach Kellen Moore’s offense, which has seen a complete revamping in free agency thus far.
At 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds with 4.5 speed coming into the league, Fant was highlighted for his ability as a receiver, but also his contributions and willingness as a blocker. In the league, he’s solidified himself as a pass-catching specialist.
Fant has 334 receptions for 3,593 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns catches over the course of his career. He reeled in three touchdown passes last year with the Bengals on 41 targets and a 38% offensive snap share.
Attention will now turn to tight end Foster Moreau and quarterback Taysom Hill, who contributes greatly at the tight end position, to see if either will be back to join Fant and Johnson in 2026.
