The New Orleans Saints are seeing another one of their free agents head out of the Crescent City. After losing some key names during the negotiating period, the Saints now lose another as the new league year begins.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, New Orleans native and tight end Foster Moreau is headed to the Houston Texans.
Moreau spent the last three years with the Saints, totaling 60 receptions for 665 receiving yards and six touchdown catches.
New Orleans added free agent tight end Noah Fant this offseason, adding him to the tight end room along with incumbent starter Juwan Johnson who had a breakout year in 2025.
Along with the departure of Moreau, tight end Jack Stoll signed with the Cleveland Browns and quarterback Taysom Hill’s contract voided. Hill was a substantial contributor to the tight end role despite his position designation. With these losses, the Saints may continue to be in the market at the position.
The complicating factor for New Orleans is that the team isn’t just going to be looking to replace Moreau’s production; it’s his leadership that will be challenging to replicate.
Moreau was a vocal presence in the team’s locker room, on the field and at practice. His cheering, jeering and critiques echoed in the practice facility and resonated for his teammates. New Orleans will be in search of that kind of presence again, whether at the same position or otherwise, in-house or as a new addition.
Moreau’s departure further represents the changes the Saints are experiencing in leadership and standard-bearing responsibilities.
