The New Orleans Saints are re-signing another key defensive depth and special teams piece.
Per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Saints are re-signing safety Terrell Burgess.
The safety sticks around for a second year in New Orleans after reuniting with defensive coordinator Brandon Staley in New Orleans last season. Burgess appeared in 16 games last year totaling 22 tackles and three passes defended while seeing 11% of the defensive snaps and 51% of the special teams snaps.
Burgess was a consistent presence in punt coverage and as a dimeback on defense.
He entered the league from Utah as a third-round pick in the 2020 draft. He was selected to be a part of Staley’s defense with the Los Angeles Rams, where he remained until 2022. He has also taken snaps for the New York Giants and Washington Commanders.
Burgess brings a strong locker room presence and experience back to the Saints’ roster where he should be considered a favorite to maintain his rotation defensive and core special teams roles in 2026.
