BATON ROUGE, La. — LSU was back outdoors at the McClendon Practice Facility Saturday for its third workout of spring, donning shoulder pads for the first time. The media was allowed to watch about 30 minutes of the workout which included one 11-on-11 team period and the rest individual position drill work.
A long time LSU staffer shared that he felt because the team goes so fast on offense, more players have gotten more reps that a typical spring practice. This is how the first team units lined up during the team period:
Offense:
QB – Landen Clark
RB – Harlem Berry
WR – Jayce Brown, Jackson Harris, Winnie Watkins
TE – Trey’Dez Green
OL (L-toR) – Jordan Seaton, Devin Harper, Braelin Moore, Aliou Bah, Weston Davis
*Roman Mothershed rotated with the first receiver group during this period.
Defense
DT – Deuce Geralds, Malik Blocton
EDGE – Princewill Umanmielen, Jordan Ross
LB – Davhon Keys, TJ Dottery
STAR – Dashawn Spears
CB – DJ Pickett, PJ Woodland
S – Ty Benefield, Tamarcus Cooley
*Blocton was working with the first unit in the spot Richard Anderson occupied Thursday.
*Whit Weeks is present but still not participating
The only change in the second unit was the Gabe Reliford was replaced by Kolaj Cobbins at EDGE. Reliford is returning from a shoulder injury that cost him the majority of his 2025 season and was not observed during the media viewing portion of practice although a member of the sports information staff confirmed later Reliford was present.
Clemson DT transfer Stephiylan Green remains absent while EDGE Damien Shanklin was at practice after missing the first two workouts of spring.
Pads were popping for the first time and Harlem Berry got into a small shoving match with a few defenders on the final play of the team period. Berry replaced Caden Durham who had been running with the first unit during this drill the first two practices.
Husan Longstreet was 0-for-5 during the team period with the twos after being very effective in the prior drills.
Second Team Defense:
DT – Richard Anderson, Dominick McKinley
EDGE – Dylan Carpenter, Kolaj Cobbins
LB – Tylen Singleton, Zach Weeks
STAR – Aiden Hall
CB – Michael Turner, Ja’Keem Jackson
S – Jhase Thomas, Faheem Delane
Notes:
At the beginning of the individual period, the quarterbacks were working on jet sweep handoffs with several receivers: Tyree Holloway, Watkins, Brown, Nau’Jour Grainger, Phillip Wright. Then they pivoted to handoffs with the running backs, who worked on changing direction upfield. Dilin Jones looks physically different than the other backs. He will likely bring a more powerful running style to the group.
During the next period, the quarterbacks worked on routes with the tight ends. The order was Green, Malachi Thomas, Zach Grace, JD LaFleur, JC Anderson, Landon Craig.
Saturday is family day at practice when parents are invited to attend, so there was a larger crowd in attendance.
The Tigers will have the rest of the weekend off and will be back on the practice field for their fourth workout Tuesday.
