It took until the weekend, but the metaphorical dam finally broke in regards to the transfer portal. Let’s dive into the latest news and updates from the portal for Saturday.
Numbers to know
Friday was the busiest day of the portal cycle, by far. The total number of players in the men’s portal hit 1,000 on Friday afternoon and the number of commits doubled to 47. The chaos wasn’t on that side however, it was the staggering numbers that were updated on the women’s.
A season ago it took 30 days for the women’s portal total to reach 1,500. They nearly crossed that mark in the first four days, passing 1,400 total entrants by midday Friday.
The cadence of the women’s portal has flowed a bit like traffic. It’s been a lot of speeding up, slowing down and speeding back up again when it comes to any breaking news. Of the 1,400 players that have entered, a little over 1,000 of them entered in the first 12 hours of its opening.
Between both the men’s and women’s portal, the current total for this year’s cycle is just over 2,400. Up 300 from two years ago, and down from 2,700 last year.
Fully updated as of 2:30pm EST.

Goodbye agent double O-7, hello agent double the zeroes on that NIL check
One of the biggest injustices with the portal and NIL era has been the blame for newfound greed and selfish intentions when it comes to players demanding more money. It’s understandable how that perception and narrative has formed considering the money ultimately ends up in their pockets. Talking to some staff members and personnel directors, however, would quickly dispel that notion that the kids are causing the chaos and greed.
It’s the agents. The agents are the most corrupt and difficult part of the process, and it’s not particularly close. There have been direct reports that the standard percentage cut for NCAA agents is more than double any other professional sports league hovering at around 20 percent.
As we’ve stated a million times – that’s not going to change as long as there’s a demand for the product and someone desperate, dumb or both, enough to spend the money.
I received this from a prominent staff today “It’s an absolute shit show out here.People have no idea.” Want to call it professional sports : well professional sports have guideline.Professional sports doesn’t have year 2 year free agency.Agents shopping guys 24/7/12 Disaster

PJ Haggerty’s annual breakup and find someone new
I’m not sure if PJ Haggerty has an NIL Deal with UHaul, Two Men and A Truck or another moving company, but he absolutely should.
Haggerty spent this last season at Kansas State where he was named the Big 12 Transfer of the Year. He finished this season averaging over 35 minutes per game and one of the nation’s best numbers at 23.4 ppg to go along with 5.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and over 1.2 steals on average.
The No. 6 ranked player in this year’s portal class according to On3, made his announcement on Friday, choosing Texas A&M over LSU and several other schools. According to sources, his NIL package at Kansas State was in the $2.5 million range. That will almost certainly increase at Texas A&M given the current market.
Haggerty will be attending his fifth program in as many years when he enrolls at Texas A&M. Besides lice and Capri Suns, nobody has been in more schools than Haggerty during his career.
