The New Orleans Saints are doing their homework across just about every position, including those that many wouldn’t expect like quarterback.
Per NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, the Saints held a private workout with Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels earlier this year.
Daniels, 6-foot-1 and 219 pounds, is a sixth-year senior graduate headed into the NFL Draft after spending several years running the Kansas Jayhawks RPO-heavy offense. He’s an athletic, dual-threat passer that produced impressive numbers during his long collegiate tenure.

While the Saints are no longer in the market for a starting quarterback, Daniels is a name to watch should he fall out of the draft as a potential undrafted free agent pursuit. New Orleans will need a passer or two during rookie minicamps with none of their trio of quarterbacks able to participate during that offseason activity.
His athleticism could give him a path to leading the way for the Saints during that short portion of their offseason and then taking advantage of opportunities elsewhere.
Daniels became the second player in Jayhawks history to amass more than 10,000 total yards during his career with the team.
He completed 62.1% of his passing attempts last year on the way to 2,531 passing yards and 22 passing touchdowns. He also added 117 rushes for 404 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. However, his 19 interceptions over the past two seasons are a large part of the reason there’s little concern that the Saints could be looking at him as a longer-term option.
