The New Orleans Saints are adding to their linebacker room for the first time since the opening day of free agency, per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football.
Per Underhill, the Saints are signing former New York Jets linebacker Jackson Sirmon, son of the team’s linebacker coach Peter Sirmon.
The linebacker recorded one combined tackle in his single game appearance with the Jets in 2025 and now joins a linebacker room searching for depth and contribution to special teams units.
The 6-foot-2, 240-pound linebacker played college football at Cal-Berkeley in 2022 and 2023, where his father was the team’s defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach. The two will now reunite in New Orleans.
Sirmon entered the league in 2024 as an undrafted free agent.
In order to make room for the signing, New Orleans waived undrafted rookie signee out of Southern Illinois Jeremiah McClendon. The corresponding move was initially reported by KPRC’s Aaron Wilson.
