LSU’s first portal addition is a big one.
According to Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball, Gonzaga’s Landon Hood has committed to Jay Johnson and the Tigers. Hood just earned West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year honors.
PORTAL COMMIT: @LSUbaseball lands a big-time portal commitment from former Gonzaga RHP Landon Hood, I'm told. Hood, 6-3, 200, finished 2026 with 78 strikeouts in 54.1 innings of work. He is up to 96-97 w/ FB w/ a strong 53% whiff rate on an upper-70s CH. Nice get #LSU.

The 6-foot-3 Arizona native made 16 appearances including four starts for the Bulldogs and pitched to an ERA of 2.48. He struck out 78 in 54.1 innings while only allowing nine extra base hits and an opposing batting average of .162.
Hood was the Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year as a prep senior.
The right-hander features a fastball clocked as high as 97 mph and a pair of strong secondary offerings headlined by his straight changeup.
He could compete for a spot in LSU’s rotation in 2027.
