Tigers add second RB to ’27 class in Tre Segarra

Kevin Smith has earned a second commitment in two weeks.

Tre Segarra from Duncan, S.C., pledged to LSU on Tuesday morning joining Brennan Lacey in the Class of 2027 backfield.

Segarra is considered the No. 7 tailback according to Rivals and 247sports. He’s the consensus No. 3 player in the state of South Carolina for the cycle.

Segarra is a physical back at 5-foot-10 and 210 pounds. He’s also an all-state soccer player for Byrnes high School. As a junior, Segarra ran for 1.460 yards and 17 scores at a eye-popping g8.4 yard per rush.

LSU did not take a back in the 2026 high school class, so Smith is assembling his first real crop.

Segarra and Lacey will enter a potentially crowded room as Caden Durham (Jr.), Harlem Berry, (Soph), Dilin Jones (Soph), Stacy Gage (Soph), Rod Gainey (Soph) and Raycine Guillory (Fr) all have remaining eligibility following 2026.

LSU now has 11 commitments and has picked up seven in nine days.
